I have started a new blog that will focus on home management and organization. It will contain tips, resources and encouragement for managing the home. It’s pretty bare bones right now, but you can check it out at:

This morning, the boys and I were out bright and early to assist the food closet at Sierra Arden Church in Sacramento. We assisted them for Thanksgiving by filling bags with food. Today, we manned a bread table and handed out loaves of bread and rolls to the people who were taking the food home.

We arrived a little early, so the boys played “supermarket” to pass the time…

All set at the bread table. The boxes behind us were full of breads, rolls, and pastries to keep the table stocked.

“OH how the years go by…”
Just as I feel like I am getting the hang of being the mom to young ones, my young ones grow and aren’t so young! AAAAHHHH! They are going to be pre-teens before I know it, then teens, then <gasp>, adults! I am hyperventilating here! This is happening too fast! My little babe was just a babe, seems like yesterday!!
OK, I have caught my breath, even though it’s only caught in my throat…
Since our precious first born could not wait for his first Christmas and popped out a month early, we have decided to hold off on having a party for him until after the holidays. I joke with hubby that we should have just told him he was born in February. He’d never know!
He started his special day by waking up shortly after 6am. For a child that rarely arises before 8:30am, this was definitely an oddity. He came into our room and said, “is it too early to start my birthday?”
I told ‘A’ he could have anything he wanted for breakfast. He chose eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls, apple juice, and I surprised him with egg nog.

After breakfast, but before school, (yes, I was a mean mom and had school), we went to pick out cupcakes for dessert later at a terrific cupcake boutique in Rocklin…

Christie stopped by with her two girls and gave ‘A’ some yummy treats. So sweet! The girls made homemade cards. They are precious.
Dinner time and ‘A’ got to choose where to go. He picked Mikunis for sushi!
Our sushi chef, making a custom roll for ‘A’ (eel, cucumber, avocado, fish roe…)

‘A’s custom roll…

Next up…Tako! (Octopus)

The chef made ‘A’ a special extra plate for him. Rice balls in fish roe…

Yum! The Rainbow Roll!

After dinner, ‘A’ got to spin the birthday wheel and won Mochi Ice Cream!

Mochi ice cream. yummy!

‘A’ and the talented sushi chef!

Daddy surprised us all with a trip to see “Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader” in 3D!

After the movie, it was time for cupcakes and presents!

Happy birthday, ‘A’! We love you!

Last night, we got to enjoy one of our closest friends act in a play. It is an original, titled, ‘Christmas Musical’, and centers around a group of actors preparing for a play. All the character’s focus was on everything but Jesus, much to the dismay of the stagehand, Winnie. It all comes around in the end with the realization of what Christmas is truly about. Our friend Crystal, played the role of ‘Madison’, who was preparing for the role of ‘Mary’. She plays a bratty, egocentric woman, and plays it very well! Crystal has a beautiful voice and we were able to hear her sing a few times.
William and Crystal, playing “Blake and Madison”, preparing to play “Joseph and Mary”…

‘Madison’, coercing the stagehand ‘Winnie’, to be her personal assistant. Please note the curling iron in her hand 🙂

Poor ‘Mary’, working hard…

A beautiful solo that brings the focus back to Jesus.

The grand finale. Bringing it all together…

(Yes, the ‘wise men’ are dressed as ‘Elvis’. You should have heard the shepherds sing the BSB rendition of “Bye Bye Bye”, as “Baa Baa Baa” 🙂

Crystal with the boys post show.

This gingerbread ornament was given to us while ‘A’ was a newborn. He was a month premature and we had to spend five days in the NICU. The ornament was given to us by a child that also spent time in the NICU as an infant and was now a teenager. It is always special to place this little guy on our tree every year as a reminder to count our blessings.

My last day in Washington. I ran up to North Bend to visit a few friends that could not make the Girls Night Out. It was nice to see the snow line had dropped overnight. This is a picture of Mt. Si…

I visited Heidi and Jen. I forgot my camera in the car and Jen conveniently chose not to remind me, so no pictures! 😉 It was great catching up! Then, another visit with Lacey and the “babies”. (Not really babies any more! They are 3!!) I can’t BELIEVE I forgot to take pictures!
OK, last North Bend stop. This time, I took pictures before forgetting 🙂 A quick stop to see Megan and Jeff and their fabulous boys!
‘O’ and ‘C’…

‘T’ and Megan. Hmmm….I wonder where he gets his dimples?

And, Baby ‘E’!

The visit was short, but very sweet. Thanks for the visit, Megan!
My final visit was in Seattle with Michelle, my lifelong friend of 41 years (yes, that’s right…) We had lunch, then shopped for a while. Found this awesome Santa and could not pass up a photo with him! Our time together was way too short, but I am so glad we were able to get together. I love ya, Shell!

The flight back was much more crowded than the flight up, but still decent. Happy to be back with my wonderful hubby and boys! A special visit with special memories…

The next day, my mom and I took off for more shopping, shopping, shopping. After a few hours at Bellevue Square, we met up with my lifetime friend, Julie (AKA Juj.) Juj and I have known each other since 7th grade! She was able to break away from work for a little while to meet with us for some coffee.

After our visit with Juj, my mom and I went to Redmond Town Center. After visiting some more shops, we took a break at a bistro, before meeting my brother, niece, his girlfriend and her son, for dinner…
I love this picture of my mom, even though she will probably not be happy that I’m posting it…

What a wonderful evening! A night at our friend’s Jazz Club, Boxleys, with my close North Bend gal pals. We spent the evening catching up, laughing, and enjoying our time together.
Coincidentally, our friend Bruce was there to listen to music. It was great to see him!

My friend Carol’s daughter, ‘M’, heard I was in town, and had her mom bring her for a hug before taking her home. I love our ‘M’ and ‘A’!

My little sister in spirit, Lacey Lee…

A long overdue hug and visit with April…

A fun time always with these good friends: Kirsten, Robyn, and Carol

The group shot. (Mr. Bacon is camera shy… 🙁 )

Rob, picking up Lacey after a wonderful evening…

I love this of me and Heidi. Eyes are open, smiles wide, taken above the chest. All those sorority shots have paid off!

After a day of shopping, I headed up to North Bend to visit with friends. My first stop was to visit the newest addition of the Carter family. Little ‘L’. She is precious and perfect. I could have held her all night. I love watching newborns just ‘BE’…

Lovely Cascade foothills…

Next stop: A visit with our friends, the Jenks. This is their new Mini Cooper, the bright-side of an accident that totalled John’s other car. He still needs to name it… 🙂

Next stop…Girls Night Out!!

My mom took two days off of work to spend with me. On the first day, we had a nice breakfast at a diner in Issaquah, then headed to the Bothell Country Village. This is a delightful group of unique boutiques and antique shops. We were able to buy a few holiday items, then headed to Mill Creek to shop some more. These are a few random shots at the Bothell Country Village…
