Every year, a family in Newcastle begins decorating their property in October. It is lovely; they serve popcorn, hot cocoa, and cider to enjoy while walking the grounds. The boys and I visited it with Shanti and family…

Our good friends, Eric and Crystal, joined us for Thanksgiving. We were also blessed to have Crystal’s grandmother, (Vi), her friend, (Manny), and David’s friend, (Newton), whose family lives in China.
Me and my goddaughter, ‘Z’. Soaking up the baby love!

The appetizer table. I served one of my favorite appetizer. Here’s the recipe: Northwest Bounty Bruschetta

Eric, Crystal, and Newton

David, the boys, and Eric

We played ‘Apples to Apples’ after dinner. This is a terrific game to play with others. Newton won. 🙂

Our friends, Shirley and Q, dropped off their homemade pecan pie for dessert. A yummy gift!

My girlfriend, Shanti, runs the food blog, Life Made Full, and on occasion, appears on our local morning show, Good Day Sacramento. She decided (or we coerced her…I don’t recall), to have a “Girl’s Night Out” theme, and have her friends on the show with her.
Here we are in the GMS lobby, waiting for one of the producers to take us back…(Eun, Tina, me, Shanti)

The “green” room. Shanti’s hubby, Chris, and their kids joined in for moral support.
All miked up and ready to go. It has been a long time since my hair was this big and I had this much makeup on…

A glimpse of behind the scenes on the set…

Us un the kitchen set…

We had a blast and if you want to watch the segment, here you go! Good Day Sacramento Video

Drove my little Mini to S.F. with some of my good friends. We have a tradition where we get out of town once or twice a year.
We arrived at 8:30am and planned at eating at a restaurant that gets rave reviews. After standing in line for 50 minutes and had only moved 10 feet, with what would probably be at least another hour, we decided to find something else. We walked a couple blocks to another place called ‘Bottle Cap’. We had a wonderful breakfast, with only a few others in the restaurant. Totally content with everything. so glad we decided to get out of the other line.

Next stop- Coit Tower. When we got there, though, we discovered that it was closed until Spring of 2014.
Next stop, a park on the corner of Seward and Douglass. They have a cement slide that you can slide down on cardboard. Way fun and FAST!

Next stop: Twin Peaks. Incredible views of the city…

Next stop: Conservatory of flowers in Golden Gate Park. This greenhouse dates back to the late 1800’s. Includes a butterfly garden. lovely.

Next stop: Shopping Haight-Ashbury.

Last stop: Pizza in Milly Valley at Pizza Antica. Affogato for dessert. Yum!

Glad I caught these shots. It’s something we see every week, I just never thought to take a picture. The park where we spend our Thursday afternoons is located next to a middle school. While we are at the park, students from the school run around the fields for P.E. Our kids line up to encourage them and give them high-fives. Everyone has smiles on their faces.
This is the boys latest art project. Paper mache. ‘A’s is the bird. ‘R’s is the snake. They really enjoyed this project.

A wreath laying ceremony to honor Veteran’s Day at the Aerospace Museum of California near Sacramento. We arrived a little early and looked around a bit. They had a flight simulator that the boys and I went on. It highlighted many different fighter planes over the years.
The wreath laying service had a few speakers. They had such a large turnout, they added more chairs, and it was still standing room! I am glad he boys got to experience this.

After the service, we went to the back to see planes! There were a bunch of wonderful docents who shares their knowledge. They were all retired veterans, and enjoyed speaking with the boys.
This plane flew in WW2, then was sold to a commercial airline. The airline then sold it to a private owner, who turned it into a drug running plane. It was confiscated by the DEA and was donated to the museum.

This plane shuttled dignitaries. It served as “Air Force 1” for some of California governors.

This wonderful man may or may not have shared how they obtained this Russian mig. He also may or may not have shared with us about his time at Area 51, which we all know doesn’t exist…

We wrote notes of encouragement in Christmas cards that are then sent to soldiers stationed overseas.

I remember going to McDonald’s for a field trip around third grade. I remember feeling special that we were allowed to go behind the counter and see where all the magic happens. Our homeschool group had the opportunity to have a similar experience at Fuddruckers in Citrus Heights. The owner was our host and was so kind to our group. We toured the commercial fridge and freezer, and saw how they make their own hamburger buns every day. We ended the tour with lunch!
