{"id":156672,"date":"2006-06-25T11:37:00","date_gmt":"2006-06-25T11:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2006\/06\/25\/active-saturday\/"},"modified":"2025-06-22T15:33:22","modified_gmt":"2025-06-22T15:33:22","slug":"active-saturday","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2006\/06\/25\/active-saturday\/","title":{"rendered":"Active Saturday"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">I got the boys up and out of the house early.\u00a0 We drove to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tacomagames.org\/\">Tacoma Scottish Highland Games<\/a>.\u00a0 I am so glad we went early!\u00a0 It became too warm for the boys and we had to leave, but we were able to enjoy some of the festivities.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">Here is &#8216;A&#8217; asking the Scottish Military to show him their swords.\u00a0 I am taking this picture while waiting in line to see the tartans from clans &#8216;Alexander&#8217; and &#8216;Morrison&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/77\/174586375_3ad9a71c11.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">This is an event where the men throw a weight up in the air for height.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/46\/174592639_b321f9ca0a.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">We also watched the Stone Toss.\u00a0 I was not paying attention and hear &#8216;R&#8217; yell, &#8220;I did it!&#8221;\u00a0 I look behind and discovered that &#8216;R&#8217; had thrown a large stone, straight at a dog and his owners.\u00a0 Fortunately, they were gracious in accepting my apology.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">There were many other field events, but it was too hot to stay and watch.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">We went into a cabin and saw a row of women playing harps.\u00a0 &#8216;A&#8217; asked what the &#8220;things were that looked like harpsichords!&#8221;\u00a0 We also watched someone turn wool into yarn, all the while enjoying a Scottish meat pie.\u00a0 I bought the boys a couple of tin whistles.\u00a0 Big mistake!\u00a0 They are loud and every dog in the neighborhood is suffering.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/66\/174592637_72f66a774a.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">Here are the boys indulging in a scone.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/62\/174586379_3c17be8070.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">Early evening, we went on our friends boat for a swim and dinner.\u00a0 Aren&#8217;t they a cute couple!\u00a0 25 years of marriage!!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/59\/174601278_21515b57df.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\">A picture of our family.\u00a0 &#8216;R&#8217; is wearing two hats to be silly!<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0px;\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/78\/174621209_78876a6b0b.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I got the boys up and out of the house early.\u00a0 We drove to the Tacoma Scottish Highland Games.\u00a0 I am so glad we went early!\u00a0 It became too warm for the boys and we had to leave, but we were able to enjoy some of the festivities.
