We had no plans for the day, and kind of let the wind take us wherever.\u00a0 We turned out having a terrific day!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We are currently reading “Corduroy”; an activity in BFIAR is to introduce the concept of saving money by introducing a piggy bank.\u00a0 I decided to find a piggy bank or something for the boys.\u00a0 Initially, I was going to go to a craft store and have the boys decorate a cardboard box to create a bank, but I did not want to travel the distance it would take to get to that particular store.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

So, I decided that we’d have an “adventure” and visit a hardware store in a nearby town.\u00a0 What a “find” that turned out to be.\u00a0 It is not only a hardware store, but also a “variety” store with all sorts of household, garden, toys, etc.\u00a0 I found two beautiful glass jars with red lids on them for the banks.\u00a0 I also found a small cookbook for campfire cooking.\u00a0 The boys planted themselves in the toy section and stayed there while I perused the aisles.\u00a0 It felt like we had gone back in time when a single store had items for everything you need.\u00a0 It was so small town, I loved it.<\/p>\n

After that, we walked to a Christian book store.\u00a0 I found a bunch of notecards that will work perfectly for next years MOPS theme.\u00a0 (They have gerbera daisies on them.).\u00a0 I also ordered a book for “A”‘s martial arts teacher.\u00a0 I wanted to give him something in appreciation for being such a terrific teacher and role model for the boys.<\/p>\n

Continuing along the road, we were getting really hot.\u00a0 I decided we would pop into a cafe I had never noticed before.\u00a0 It was a cafe\/used bookstore.\u00a0 It was a funky, eclectic place, with mismatched tables, chairs, silverware, glassware, etc.\u00a0 “A” ended up drinking water out of an etched “Batman” glass.\u00a0 Total coincidence, but he was in heaven. (He’s crazy for Batman).<\/p>\n

We enjoyed sandwiches on homemade bread and I had a side spinach salad.\u00a0 Perfect for a hot day like today.<\/p>\n

After lunch, we walked across the street to the train depot.\u00a0 “Thomas” the train was in town, and we watched families board and get their pictures taken.\u00a0\u00a0 The boys ride the train every few months and I was so pleased to see that while they enjoyed waving to Thomas and shouting out his name, they did not fuss about going for a ride.<\/p>\n

By the time we walked back to the car, we were very hot.\u00a0 I drove to the nearest McD’s for some sodas.\u00a0 When we got home, DH said, “let’s go and buy our furniture!” (Yay, we scouted a sofa, loveseat, dining room set, and end table last weekend).\u00a0 We could only bring one piece home at a time, or else pay $250.00 for shipping.\u00a0 We decided to bring home one piece and take two cars.\u00a0 But, the boys were coming unhinged (it was late afternoon and very hot still).\u00a0 While DH was taking all the seats out of the van, I turned on the hose and next thing I knew the boys were drenched and having a blast.\u00a0 DH decided to go by himself so the boys could stay cool.<\/p>\n

Before DH left, he went into the kitchen.\u00a0 I heard a loud “aaaaarrrgggghhh” coming from him.\u00a0 He came out to the front yard where I was and, smiling, said the kitchen looked different that the last time he saw in 10 minutes earlier.\u00a0 I went to chek it out and this is what I found…(WARNING!\u00a0 Graphic picture ahead.\u00a0 Not for the squeamish…)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our precious cat, Chelan, brought a bird into the house and was devouring it!\u00a0 Now, we know he’s an excellent hunter, and often brings things to the door as a “gift”, but he never brings items INTO the house, and eats them!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I decided to leave him alone and come back in a few minutes to clean up.\u00a0 But, when I returned, all that was left was what I think was the stomach, and a few feathers!\u00a0 I pray that he ate the rest and did not drag it elsewhere in the house!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I should not have left him alone.<\/p>\n
