The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes: Story of Cain and Abel<\/p>\n

Focus: Cain killed Abel<\/p>\n

This was an extremely well-timed lesson.\u00a0 Earlier today, I witnessed ‘A’ throwing a large rock at ‘R’s feet.\u00a0 I asked him why he did it and he said that ‘R’ threw bark at him (no evidence of the sort, but could be true).\u00a0 He was disciplined for his actions and this lesson was appropriate for reinforcement.<\/p>\n

Active Exploration<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The boys learned that people show their feelings with their face, words, and voice.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We matched our facial expressions, and voices with the words: anger, sleepy, sad, excited.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We looked in the mirror and sang “Row, Row, Row your Boat” using the above emotions.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Focus: Cain’s anger got him into trouble because he killed Abel.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We talked about which emotion is the better emotion to have and which one God prefers us to have.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Letter Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I gave each boy a card with the letter ‘A’ on it.\u00a0 They traced it with their finger.\u00a0 (I guided ‘R’.)<\/p>\n

Focus: Practice the motions ‘A’.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Bible Activity<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

I had each boy get their stuffed animals.\u00a0 I then had them yell at them, make mad faces, hit them and throw them on the ground and walk away.\u00a0 I then had them speak kindly, shake their animals hands and give them a hug.\u00a0 I then asked which way does God prefer?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

We also talked about some things that made us angry and how to handle our anger and the situations.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

(‘A’ said his brother made him angry when he hit him.\u00a0 ‘R’ just said, “I don’t know”.)<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Focus: Cain should not have hurt Abel, even when he was mad at him.<\/p>\n
