I did all the cutting, the boys did the coloring, pasting, and narrating.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/112\/284717874_49293bec9e.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>This is the cover of the lapbook (two file folders together).&nbsp; We cut an apple in half and dipped it in paint to decorate the cover.&nbsp; Then, &#39;A&#39; made up the &#39;poem&#39;, with APPLE as the guide.<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG><\/STRONG>&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/118\/284717878_f2948605ca.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>First inside flap.<\/STRONG>&nbsp; The boys learned &#39;apple fractions&#39;.&nbsp; One apple equals one whoe, two halves, and four quarters.&nbsp; I also took a real apple and cut it into pieces to physically show this concept.&nbsp; It was great to see &#39;A&#39; understand.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/113\/284717885_0098290b84.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>First large interior.&nbsp;<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff33\"><STRONG>Left:<\/STRONG><\/FONT> &#8220;Did you know?&#8221;-&nbsp; We looked up apple facts and &#39;A&#39; chose the three he liked the best.&nbsp; You open up the little cards:<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">1) Two pounds of apples make on 9-inch pie?<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">2)It takes about 36 apples to create one gallon of apple cider?<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">3) The five most populare apple sin the U.S. are Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Fuji, and Gala.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Upper Left:<\/STRONG> <\/FONT>&#39;A&#39; made a <EM>prediction <\/EM>that there would be 4 seeds inside an apple.&nbsp; We cut open an apple, dissected the core, and the <EM>results<\/EM> were that there were seven seeds in the apple.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Upper Middle:<\/STRONG>&nbsp;<\/FONT>&nbsp; Johnny Appleseed.&nbsp; We looked up facts about Johnny Appleseed.&nbsp; In side the card, we wrote:<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">* Real name: John Chapman<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*Born: September 26, 1774<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*Died: March 18, 1845<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*Birth place: Leominster, Mass.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*Known for: Planting many apple trees<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Middle Middle:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Apple Sayings.&nbsp; We recorded what the following sayings meant:<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*An apple a day keeps the doctor away.-Apples are good for you and keep you healthy.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*The apple does not fall far from the tree.- Kids are like their parents.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*As Americna as apple pie.-Something that represents the ideals of America.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*An apple for the teacher.-A gift for the teacher, sometime to impress or bribe.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">*The apple of my eye.-I love and adore you!<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Lower Middle:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Varieties of apples.&nbsp; We looked up the different apples and colored them accordingly.&nbsp; Pippin, Delicious, Jonathan, Rome, Macintosh, Winesap<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Lower Right:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Find the Apples Word Search.&nbsp; I had &#39;A&#39; find the first three letters in the apple and I drew the line through the word.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Right: <\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">An Apple Tree through the Seasons.&nbsp; The boys colored the different stages of the tree through the four seasons.&nbsp; I also introduced them to the names of the seasons in Spanish.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/112\/284717891_bb6a8a9db9.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>Second large interior:<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Left:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Apple baskets. Both boys colore the apples and &#39;R&#39; colored the baskets.&nbsp; I cut ou the apples and &#39;R&#39; counted aout 4 and 5 apples to paste on the corresponding basket.&nbsp; &#39;A&#39; did 6 and 7.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">Apple Patterns.&nbsp; Inside, the boys colored the apples.&nbsp; &#39;A&#39; then looked at the patterns and place the corresponding apple that completed that pattern.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Upper Middle:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Mr. Applehead.&nbsp; We cut out four faces with different expressions and can interchange the faces (stored in the card pocket) on Mr. Applehead.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Middle Middle:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">My Apple Seed Counting Book.&nbsp; Counts seeds from 1-20.&nbsp; This book is small and the upper numbers are hard for them to track, since there are many small seeds all together.&nbsp; This will benefit them down the road, but not really now.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Lower Middle:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">Dot to Dot.&nbsp; Inside, &#39;A&#39; completed a dot-to-dot (and apple tree).&nbsp; &#39;R&#39; colored it.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffff66\"><STRONG>Lower Right:<\/STRONG><\/FONT><FONT style=\"BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff\">This is a recap of the Minnea Farm Field Trip where we learned about making apple cider from an old press.<\/FONT><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/55\/284723525_420e554783.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>Back Flap:<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">I took pictures of the boys making homemade apple sauce, using apples from a friend&#39;s tree.&nbsp; I recorded the crockpot recipe on the recipe card. (3lb. apples, 1\/2 c. brown sugar, 1t. cinnamon, crockpot on high 4 hours.)<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">The bottom jar graphic has &#39;A&#39; narrating the event:<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&#8220;Making applesauce.&nbsp; We first got the apples in the kitchen.&nbsp; Then, we mixed them up with cinnamon and brown salt (sugar).&nbsp; Then, we put it in the roast pot (crock pot.)<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&nbsp;<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><IMG src=\"http:\/\/static.flickr.com\/119\/284723531_e22a7907ae.jpg\"><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\"><STRONG>Back Cover:<\/STRONG><\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">Things we do with apples:&nbsp; &#39;A&#39; narrated: apple pie, apple art, applesauce, apple cookies, apple cider<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">&#8220;From Seed to Apple&#8221;: This activity documents the different stages of an apple from seed to apple.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">1) A seed is planted<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">2) It grows roots.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">3)The seed sprouts.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">4)It growns into a tree.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">5)Flowers begin to blossom.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">6)Apples are growing.<\/P><br \/>\n<P style=\"MARGIN: 0px\">7)An apple at last.
