Blogger Friend School ~ Assignment #5 <\/font><\/p>\n

"Getting into the Spirit"<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n

<\/font> <\/p>\n

Our assignment this week, is to blog about "Getting into the Spirit".  I would like everyone to cover 3 areas in their posts:<\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n

    Share your family traditions for Christmas and\/or Advent<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n
    List 10 ways that you can prepare for the season<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n
    Post a scripture that will help you "Get into the Spirit"<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    1.  We travel interstate quite a bit during the holidays.  Our celebration begins about two weeks prior and does not let up until New Year weekend.   Our anniversary and ‘A’s birthday is also in December, so it is one festive month!<\/font><\/p>\n

    Our traditions include:<\/font><\/p>\n

      \n
    • \n
      One present on Christmas eve.  It is always a new pair of PJs to wear that night.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      We cut our own tree at a local tree farm.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      We have not done stockings yet, but will probably begin this year.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Participate in Operation Christmas Child<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Participate in a giving tree<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      We have not started this yet, but would like to.  Have a "Birthday Party" for Jesus.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      Make a gingerbread house<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      When the boys are older, I would like to do what my mom did with us.  She would start a holiday puzzle about two weeks prior and we would work as a family to complete it by Christmas.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n
    • \n
      DH and I do not buy things for each other.  We head to Maui trip in January.  We will then buy a few things there.<\/font><\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      2) 10 ways to prepare for the season<\/font><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Pray for peace of mind and balance<\/font> <\/li>\n
      2. Read the Christmas Story from the Bible often<\/font> <\/li>\n
      3. Make a list early and try to have shopping for gifts completed in November<\/font> <\/li>\n
      4. Play Christmas music<\/font> <\/li>\n
      5. Burn scented candles<\/font> <\/li>\n
      6. Enjoy the lights of the season.  Drive through neighborhoods at night.<\/font> <\/li>\n
      7. Drink hot cocoa (with peppermint)  instead of coffee <\/font><\/li>\n
      8. Keep your heart full of love and gratitude<\/font> <\/li>\n
      9. Start getting ideas for menus, look through magazine, cookbooks<\/font> <\/li>\n
      10. Get out the decorations<\/font><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        3) Scripture that will help you get "into the Spirit"<\/font><\/p>\n

        "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."  Matthew 1:21<\/font><\/p>\n
