{"id":296457,"date":"2007-03-08T10:11:00","date_gmt":"2007-03-08T10:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2007\/03\/08\/lesson-3-7-07\/"},"modified":"2016-11-19T19:56:25","modified_gmt":"2016-11-19T19:56:25","slug":"lesson-3-7-07","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2007\/03\/08\/lesson-3-7-07\/","title":{"rendered":"Lesson 3\/7\/07"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Fingerplay:<\/strong> &#8220;Jesus is the son of God&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bible Story:<\/strong>\u00a0 Mark 3:13-14 and John 2:2-11<br \/>\nChildren&#8217;s Bible:\u00a0 Jesus chose his disciples and turned water into wine<\/p>\n<p><strong>Active Exploration:<\/strong>\u00a0 We created shadows on the wall and noticed that wherever we went, our shadow followed.\u00a0 We experimented walking fast and slow, and making the shadows larger and smaller.<br \/>\nThis coincided wuth the lesson that the disciples followed Jesus wherever he went.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/156\/414685506_a748a92ce8.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter Activity:<\/strong> The boys colored a big &#8216;R&#8217;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/171\/414685521_5a5e80f52a.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/185\/414685528_a272744056.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Then, they practiced writing &#8216;R&#8217;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/129\/414687533_97ffefd129.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bible Activity:<\/strong>\u00a0 I set out 12 objects to represent the 12 disciples.\u00a0 Each boy took turn counting them.\u00a0 &#8216;A&#8217; can track and count to 12.\u00a0 &#8216;R&#8217; can get up to about 6.\u00a0 We assigned each object\u00a0a disiples name: Simon Peter, James x2, John, Andrew, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thomas, James, Thaddeus, Simon the Zealot, Judas Iscariot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math Activity <\/strong>I filled 6 bowls with water (to represent jugs of water getting turned into wine.)\u00a0 I then made 6 index cards, each with a number 1-6.\u00a0 I placed a card on the flor, not saying what it was, and each boy took turns setting that number of bowls aside.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/133\/414685550_6e33cd10e5.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/157\/414685558_6122de4fc7.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Bible Activity <\/strong>I filled two glasses with water and added purple food coloring to one of them.\u00a0 I had the boys look at them and tell me what they thought they were.\u00a0 (water and grape juice).\u00a0 I had them taste each one and they realized that the &#8220;grape juice&#8221; was just water.\u00a0 I explained that even though items might look different, they are still the same thing.\u00a0 They also learned that mom can&#8217;t turn water into wine, unlike Jesus.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block;\" src=\"http:\/\/farm1.static.flickr.com\/160\/414687540_6988a8b722.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Fingerplay: &#8220;Jesus is the son of God&#8221; Bible Story:\u00a0 Mark 3:13-14 and John 2:2-11 Children&#8217;s Bible:\u00a0 Jesus chose his disciples and turned water into wine Active Exploration:\u00a0 We created shadows on the wall and noticed that wherever we went, our shadow followed.\u00a0 We experimented walking fast and slow, and making the shadows larger and smaller.
