{"id":368050,"date":"2007-08-04T20:14:00","date_gmt":"2007-08-04T20:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2007\/08\/04\/aplets-and-cotlets-factory-tour\/"},"modified":"2011-10-08T03:54:14","modified_gmt":"2011-10-08T03:54:14","slug":"aplets-and-cotlets-factory-tour","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2007\/08\/04\/aplets-and-cotlets-factory-tour\/","title":{"rendered":"Aplets and Cotlets Factory Tour"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After the girl&#8217;s weekend, I had one day to unpack, and pack for a camping trip.&nbsp; I took the boys and two girlfriends and their kids to Leavenworth for two nights.<\/p>\n<p>On the way there, we decided to go on a little field trip and stopped in a little town called Cashmere.&nbsp; They make &#8216;Aplets and Cotlets&#8217; here.&nbsp; We all went on a factory tour and had a bunch of samples.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1427\/1002298283_a71c5d7004.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A&#8217;, &#8216;R&#8217;, and &#8216;W&#8217; waiting to go on the tour&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1178\/1002341745_e7f85ffa4c.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nApril and her hair net.&nbsp; (Ah, the power of the camera&#8230;)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1101\/1002341917_59f3d57383.jpg\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1046\/1002342249_5dad77e2da.jpg\" \/>This is hot Cotlet mix that is poured from a vat and weighed into wooden trays for cooling and hardening.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1043\/1002342389_54367555d6.jpg\" \/>Kim and &#8216;W&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>The cooled mixture is sprinkled with a food starch that keeps the powdered sugar from being absorbed into the candy.&nbsp; After it is sprinkled with food starch it goes into a cutting machine where it is cut into bite size pieces and coated in powdered sugar.&nbsp; (You can kind of see the cutting and sugar process in the mirror above the machine).<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1405\/1002342617_9d42ab4ae3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nThe factory workers take the APlets and Cotlets (and many other flavors) and sort them into boxes.&nbsp; The boxes are them shrink wrapped for sales and gifts.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" style=\"DISPLAY: block\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm2.static.flickr.com\/1140\/1002342705_0d3b14d6a3.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the girl&#8217;s weekend, I had one day to unpack, and pack for a camping trip.&nbsp; I took the boys and two girlfriends and their kids to Leavenworth for two nights.
