{"id":495765,"date":"2008-03-10T04:42:00","date_gmt":"2008-03-10T12:42:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/03\/10\/the-seven-things-project-the-boys-room\/"},"modified":"2008-03-10T04:42:00","modified_gmt":"2008-03-10T12:42:00","slug":"the-seven-things-project-the-boys-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/03\/10\/the-seven-things-project-the-boys-room\/","title":{"rendered":"The Seven Things Project-The Boys Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DH and I teamed up this weekend to tackle the boys room in a big way.&nbsp; The boys share a very small bedroom and we needed to be more streamlined in our organization.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t want to be cleaning up after my kids all the time, and they needed a system they could handle.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Issue<br \/>\n<\/strong>The clothes that hang in the closet often end up on the floor when the boys get toys from below or dress themselves.&nbsp; The clothes on the shelves end up on the floor when the boys dress themselves.&nbsp; I have a hard time figuring out what is clean, yet dropped, and what is dirty.<\/p>\n<p>The toys are cluttered in a variety of bins and baskets, the small bookshelf in the closet is packed with games and puzzles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Solution<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Clothing<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We created seven sets of outfits for each boy (shirt, pants, undies, socks)<\/li>\n<li>Six&nbsp;outfits are for every day, two are for Sunday<\/li>\n<li>Each set of clothes went into one small plastic container and labled with the boy&#8217;s name<\/li>\n<li>The boys choose which outfit they want to wear for the day and pulls the container from the closet<\/li>\n<li>We placed about 4-5 pairs of pj&#8217;s for each boy in a plastic bin under the bed<\/li>\n<li>We have an additional small bin for a few extra undies, socks, and a couple of shirts<\/li>\n<li>We went through the summer clothes, and the items we did not donate ended up in a bin in the garage.<\/li>\n<li>The remaining clothes that did not make it into a bin were donated.&nbsp; We donated FOUR plastic tall kitchen garbage bags!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Toys<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We divided the toys into three groups\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A-<\/strong>Toys the boys play with often and\/or have educational value<\/li>\n<li><strong>B-<\/strong>Toys we will rotate to the garage<\/li>\n<li><strong>C-<\/strong>Toys that will be donated or tossed<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The &#8216;A&#8217; toys went onto the bookshelf or into a couple of bins<\/li>\n<li>The&#8217;B&#8217; toys went into plastic bins and placed in the garage<\/li>\n<li>We donated ONE plastic garbage bag of toys and tossed 1\/2 of&nbsp; a bag<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Misc.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>We bought two floor lamps for better lighting&nbsp;of the room and closet<\/li>\n<li>We are donating the dresser, creating more floor space<\/li>\n<li>We are&nbsp;donating the small bookshelf<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DH and I teamed up this weekend to tackle the boys room in a big way.&nbsp; The boys share a very small bedroom and we needed to be more streamlined in our organization.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t want to be cleaning up after my kids all the time, and they needed a system they could handle.
