{"id":521206,"date":"2008-04-23T16:31:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-24T00:31:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/04\/23\/we-have-completed-sonlight-core-b\/"},"modified":"2008-04-23T16:31:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-24T00:31:00","slug":"we-have-completed-sonlight-core-b","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/04\/23\/we-have-completed-sonlight-core-b\/","title":{"rendered":"We have completed Sonlight Core B!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Sonlight Core B<\/strong> is officially complete! <\/p>\n<p>This past year, in Core B, we:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Read all the Bible stories in <em>Children&#8217;s Everyday Bible<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Began Scripture memorization, but stopped mid-year.&nbsp; We will pick this up again this summer.<\/li>\n<li>Read all of the Read Aloud Stories (too many to mention)<\/li>\n<li>Completed all of the Language Arts worksheets and books (<em>Developing the Early Learner workbooks, Dr. Seuss&#8217;s ABCs, First Thousand Words in English)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Read all of the Science books (<em>Berenstain Bears Book of Science and Nature, The Year at Maple Hill Farm, what&#8217;s Under the Sea, Why do Tigers Have Stripes<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Read all of the Social Studies Books (<em>Things People Do, Stories From Africa, The Gods Must be Angry, People, Then and Now, New Toes for Tia<\/em>)<\/li>\n<li>Art Appreciation: Went&nbsp;through the &nbsp;<em>&#8216;Book of Art&#8217;<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to the lesson plan by Sonlight, (listed above), we also:<\/p>\n<p>For <strong>Character and Life Skills<\/strong>, we read: (<em>Right Choices, 365 Manners Every Child Should Know, Little Book of Manners for Boys, Manners by Aliki)<\/em>.&nbsp; We also role played different situations that require certain etiquette and character virtues.&nbsp; We attended church, Sunday School, MOPS, and Friday morning Bible study, and some of F\/X (Family Experience, an evening church program).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Math:<\/strong> We began Singapore Earlybird.&nbsp; Halfway through, we had to stop because the worksheets requires handwriting.&nbsp; We have shelved the math until the boys are able to legibly write their numbers.&nbsp;&nbsp; We are now working with math worksheets I print from online resources.&nbsp; We will focus more on this in the summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reading:<\/strong> Began <em>&#8216;Teach Your Child to Read in 100 Easy Lessons&#8217;<\/em>.&nbsp; Scrapped it after about Lesson 15, for my own sanity. <img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"\/include\/fckeditor\/editor\/images\/smiley\/msn\/regular_smile.gif\" \/>&nbsp; Began the <em>&#8216;Bob Books&#8217;<\/em> and will continue with these.&nbsp; &#8216;A&#8217; is currently in Volume 3 and &#8216;R&#8217; is beginning volume 1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Physical Activity:&nbsp; <\/strong>Swim Lessons Twice a Week, Soccer in the Fall, Bikes, Family Walks<\/p>\n<p><strong>Spanish:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Went through the first <em>Thousand Words in Spanish.&nbsp; T<\/em>he boys know most of the colors, how to count to 10, how to say hello\/goodbye, and &quot;very good\/well&quot;.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Misc.&nbsp; <\/strong>Field Trips, Nature Walks and Hikes, attending a Co-op we began in October 2007, Playdates, <strong><em>LIFE!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sonlight Core B is officially complete!
