{"id":563301,"date":"2008-07-20T11:21:00","date_gmt":"2008-07-20T19:21:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/07\/20\/visit-to-sagle-sandpoint\/"},"modified":"2008-07-20T11:21:00","modified_gmt":"2008-07-20T19:21:00","slug":"visit-to-sagle-sandpoint","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2008\/07\/20\/visit-to-sagle-sandpoint\/","title":{"rendered":"Visit to Sagle\/Sandpoint"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Grandma Margaret and Grandpa Randy live on a lovely property in Sagle, near Sandpoint, ID.&nbsp; We had to cut our trip a little short, but we will go back soon.&nbsp; We all love it there.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;A&#8217; soaking up the morning sun on the deck&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3233\/2685888744_d79d91a44d.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grandma and Granpa purchased<br \/>\nseven chicks.&nbsp; They are now &quot;teenagers&quot;.&nbsp; The boys enjoyed watching them in their coop and following them when they were roaming the yard.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3108\/2685889538_23b306b804.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\nGrandpa and the boys&#8230;\n<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3181\/2685890156_710fc8624c.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are a ton of crickets and grasshoppers.&nbsp; Here is one on a daisy.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3007\/2685890710_39a8256da7.jpg?v=1216571192\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3039\/2685077481_df34b6d32a.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Harvesting strawberries in Grandpa&#8217;s garden.&nbsp; A major highlight for the boys is deciding what to eat for dinner in the garden that night.&nbsp; They pick the veggies\/fruits and take them directly to Grandma to prepare.&nbsp; They are very proud of their lettuce picking.<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3148\/2685078251_993627692c.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Feverfew&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3201\/2685893922_c30253a448.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The boys love to go on the utility trailer and use it as a &quot;stage&quot; for performances&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3225\/2685080281_ed0d3ce5bb.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grandma gave us a deck of &#8216;yoga for kids&#8217; cards.&nbsp; We spent every morning doing different poses.&nbsp; Here are the boys doing what I think is called the &quot;partner bridge&quot;&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3167\/2685896522_e7c41dfe61.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We got a few lessons in.&nbsp; There is nothing better than taking &quot;class&quot; outdoors!<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3231\/2685082901_61378920f9.jpg?v=0\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3051\/2685081771_673a7f773a.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grandma reading to the boys.&nbsp; It was a story about a man who was a printer for the newspaper.&nbsp; He was deaf, which was common for people working the noisy printers back then.&nbsp; We had directions in the back of the book to make the newspaper four square hats the printers would wear to keep the ink off their heads.&nbsp; In attempting to make these hats, we have come to realize that newspaper pages&nbsp;are smaller then they used to be; who knew?! <br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3267\/2685083697_ed3b7c3479.jpg?v=0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We went to an alpaca farm <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fromtheheartranch.com\/index.html\">From the Heart Ranch<\/a>, and got to go into the pens where some of the alpacas were hanging out.&nbsp; There is a gazebo of sots on the property and we had our picnic lunch there.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3157\/2685899676_c90830e923.jpg?v=0\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3156\/2685084865_bd737d12da.jpg?v=0\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3058\/2685085617_50a2f2ef07.jpg?v=0\" \/><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3064\/2685100667_fe9b225b10.jpg?v=0\" \/>\n<\/p>\n<p>After visiting the ranch, we went to see where Grandpa Randy works. He is a craftsman for a custom timer frame company.&nbsp; They use wood pegs instead of nails.&nbsp; It truly is a beautiful skill.<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3266\/2685905622_07efe6506f.jpg?v=0\" \/><br \/>\nThe boys liked spending time with the shop cat who is always covered in a fine layer of sawdust.
