Regrets<br \/>\nAge 12 &#8211; treat your son like a man and with respect.&nbsp; Ask his counsel.&nbsp; Help him to become a man.&nbsp; Relate to him on a more mature level.<\/p>\n<p>Demand v. Inspire<br \/>\nGive them a vision for why they are doing what they are doing.<\/p>\n<p>Let them make mistakes and tell them about yours.<\/p>\n<p>Choosing activities.&nbsp; Ask:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is this life skill helpful?<\/li>\n<li>Will the skill continue to be helpful?<\/li>\n<li>Do they enjoy it and have a natural bent for it?<\/li>\n<li>What do you want your children to leave home loving?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Many things are lawful, but not all are worthy of your children&#8217;s time.<\/p>\n<p>The later years will be full of fruit, if youprepare yourselves now.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(Deborah Brown was a speaker at the 2009 Christian Heritage of WA Homeschool Convention) (My personal insight and input is in italics) -Know your child&#8217;s heart: gifts comfort zone judgements Know what skills you need to teach your&nbsp;son to help&nbsp;him become a husband, father, positive contributing member of society.
