{"id":751651,"date":"2009-12-13T11:19:00","date_gmt":"2009-12-13T19:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2009\/12\/13\/california-international-marathon-relay-2009\/"},"modified":"2009-12-13T11:19:00","modified_gmt":"2009-12-13T19:19:00","slug":"california-international-marathon-relay-2009","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2009\/12\/13\/california-international-marathon-relay-2009\/","title":{"rendered":"California International Marathon Relay 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This is what happens when a group of moms are sitting together&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Colleen: (who can run the whole marathon by herself),\u00a0 said: &#8220;Let&#8217;s get a group together and run in the relay.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And Team Glucosamine was born.<\/p>\n<p>Someone then suggested a second group was formed\u00a0 so everyone would have a running partner.\u00a0 This is where I somehow agreed to running the <strong>seven mile<\/strong> leg in the relay!\u00a0 And Bayside Beauties was formed.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Team Glucosamine<br \/>\n<\/strong>Jodi, Christina, Colleen, Leslie<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bayside Beauties<br \/>\n<\/strong>Tina, Sarah, Leigh, Tara<\/p>\n<p>I had been running a bit and although slow, had a good plan in place for training.\u00a0 Unfortunately, my mother had a stroke and I went to be with her for a couple of weeks.\u00a0 I ran a few times while up there, but my head was not in it.\u00a0 On the the Wednesday prior to the relay, I ran four miles in 57 minutes.\u00a0 With that information, my plan was to try to run four miles, walk one, then try to run the remaining two.<\/p>\n<p>Sunday morning was clear, but FREEZING!!\u00a0 Fabio and Ezperanza came with us and we all stood around, waiting for my friend Sarah to finish her leg and pass the relay chip on to me.<\/p>\n<p>When I started running, my hands were frozen.\u00a0 At about the two mile mark, they started warming up and hurt!!\u00a0 At mile three, my body had adjusted and was in a good groove.<\/p>\n<p>I was pleasantly surprised to see my family at some of the checkpoints!\u00a0 I was also in awe to realize that I was able to run the whole seven miles NONSTOP!\u00a0 This body does not do that!!\u00a0 We all had a great time and enjoyed a delicious brunch after.<\/p>\n<p>Tara and me post run&#8230;<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2685\/4180129859_da9e92e3d9.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nTina, Colleen, Leslie, Christina, Me, Jodi (Missing: Tara and Sarah)<br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2749\/4181388797_c690bd3b2f.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><br \/>\nBrunch after at the <a href=\"http:\/\/foxandgoose.com\/\">Fox and Goose<\/a><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2526\/4181388871_7cf7ab9465.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This is what happens when a group of moms are sitting together&#8230; Colleen: (who can run the whole marathon by herself),\u00a0 said: &#8220;Let&#8217;s get a group together and run in the relay.&#8221; And Team Glucosamine was born.
