Today, the boys had to create a story based on this picture.

Their stories had to answer the following questions:
\nWho are the boys?
\nHow did they get there?
\nWhat are they trying to do?
\nHow do they feel?
\nWhat are the men in the boat trying to do?
\nWhat is the weather like?<\/p>\n

I had the boys dictate their stories into a recorder. \u00a0I typed them up and printed them out. \u00a0Then, the boys had to write the stories into their notebooks.<\/p>\n

\u00a0This is the story of two boys.\u00a0 Their names were Fred and Jack.\u00a0 They were on a boat.\u00a0 The boat sunk.\u00a0 They were floating on a chunk of it. They were trying to get to an island were trying to survive.\u00a0 They felt worried. \u00a0The weather was dangerous.\u00a0 It was stormy and the waves were high.<\/p>\n

While they were stranded on the island, a lifeboat came by and rescued them.\u00a0 They felt happy to be rescued.<\/p>\n

When they got back home, they did a victory dance.\u00a0 They did back flips, spun on their heads, and ate cheese pizza until they got sick.<\/p>\n

Not a Happy Ending

Once upon a time, there were some boys.\u00a0 They were having boat ride.\u00a0 The boat crashed onto a rock and exploded.<\/p>\n

All of a sudden, one of the boys said, \u201cHey, what are we doing?\u00a0 Let\u2019s swim to that piece of boat junk.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boy\u2019s names were Captain Crunch and Apple Jack.<\/p>\n

They got stranded on an island.\u00a0 All they could eat were coconuts and bananas.\u00a0One of the boys, Apple Jacks, slipped on a banana.\u00a0 Then, the other one slipped on a coconut.\u00a0 It was dangerous there.<\/p>\n

They floated around, looking for a boat.\u00a0 Then they went back to the island.\u00a0 Apple Jacks said to Captain Crunch, \u201cHey, I found some Captain Crunch on the beach!\u00a0 Hey, you can have it!\u201d<\/p>\n

Captain Crunch said, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s a trap.\u201d<\/p>\n

Apple Jack said, \u201cJust eat it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Captain Crunch said, \u201cMaybe it\u2019s a trap!\u00a0 Hey, look!\u00a0 There\u2019s some Apple Jacks on the beach too!<\/p>\n

Zoom.\u00a0 They took off running.<\/p>\n

They filled their bellies with happiness.<\/p>\n

Then, they saw a boat. They got on their piece of boat junk and yelled, \u201cHey, boat, we are alive here!\u00a0 Help us!\u00a0 Please!\u00a0 Please!\u201d<\/p>\n

Then the boat picked them up and saved them.\u00a0 They started driving home.\u00a0 Then, this boat got shipwrecked.\u00a0 The boys had to go back and make a home on the island.\u00a0 Not a happy ending.<\/p>\n
