Well, it’s that time of year again! \u00a0The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign. \u00a0If you are not aware of this incredible charity, educate yourself and go to: Salvation Army<\/a>. \u00a0I am so honored for our family to be able to serve this charity as holiday bell ringers!<\/p>\n

We volunteered for two shifts, each two hours long, a week apart.<\/p>\n

The first week, we decided to hand out little candy canes to everyone. \u00a0It was interesting to see the reactions of people when we told them we wanted to give them the candy cane regardless of if they donated or not. \u00a0It was also kind of sad how many people averted their eyes. \u00a0It doesn’t cost anything to make eye contact and smile.<\/p>\n

The next week, we decided to bring our Advent book that contains a bunch of carols. \u00a0We sang Christmas carols. \u00a0‘A’ loves to sing, so he was in his element. \u00a0‘R’ was a trooper…
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

My friend, Crystal, and her friend, Lisa, stopped by and sang with us. \u00a0Crystal has an amazing singing voice and we sounded pretty darn good at times!
\n\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

A white bearded man (definitely a Santa) stopped by and asked the boys if they knew what Santa’s favorite song was. \u00a0They said ‘no’ and he started singing, “You know Dasher, and Dancer, and Prancer, and Vixen…” so we ended up singing ‘Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer” with him.<\/p>\n

We had many people come up to us and thank us for being there. \u00a0Last year, we had a man come up with a big bag of change. \u00a0He said that he saves up all his loose change in the car, and donates at the end of the year.<\/p>\n

BTW, our church committed to staffing all of the Roseville kettles this Christmas. \u00a0I love our church’s heart for outreach and service.<\/p>\n
