{"id":787676,"date":"2013-04-30T03:57:06","date_gmt":"2013-04-30T03:57:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/?p=787676"},"modified":"2013-08-30T22:01:50","modified_gmt":"2013-08-30T22:01:50","slug":"yummy-pizza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/2013\/04\/30\/yummy-pizza\/","title":{"rendered":"Yummy Pizza"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;R&#8217; and I made pizza together. \u00a0It was a definite stretch from our typical cheese-laden gooeyness, but we all declared it (for the most part) a winner.<\/p>\n<p>A nutrition class I am taking has taught me to saute items in veggie broth instead of oil. \u00a0It really has been a wonderful way to cook healthier without sacrificing flavor.<\/p>\n<p>For the pizza, I saut\u00e9ed onion and garlic, then added orange peppers, artichoke hearts, and black olives. \u00a0I added dried basil, oregano, rosemary, and thyme and kept adding veggie broth as everything cooked down.<\/p>\n<p>In the meantime, &#8216;R&#8217; made the pizza sauce. \u00a0He took a can of tomato paste, and added some water, then added garlic, and all the herbs listed above, as well as a little salt and pepper. \u00a0His special secret ingredient to take it over the top was a little bit of Cajun Power sauce. \u00a0It made just the right bit of flavor and bite.<\/p>\n<p>We layered the pizza sauce on the Whole Foods whole wheat pizza crust and added the saut\u00e9ed ingredients. \u00a0I layered fresh basil on top, then place them in a 400 degree pre-heated oven. \u00a0We cooked it for about 30 minutes. \u00a0I was not happy with how the crust cooked. \u00a0My guess is that there was no oil to crisp it up. \u00a0Still, the flavor was very good and everyone was happy. \u00a0Next time I think I will cook just the crust by itself a little first and see if that helps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_2080.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-787677\" alt=\"IMG_2080\" src=\"http:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_2080-225x300.jpg\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_2080-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.centerdeep2.com\/riverbendprep\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/IMG_2080-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;R&#8217; and I made pizza together. \u00a0It was a definite stretch from our typical cheese-laden gooeyness, but we all declared it (for the most part) a winner.
