Dying to self v. catering\/indulging. \u00a0Deny self. \u00a0Jesus says,”come to me, but be ready to give everything up to follow me.”<\/div>\n

Take up your cross: Jesus cross was absolute submission to the Father when Jesus laid down his life. \u00a0Our cross is absolute submission to Christ as we lay down our lives.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Submission is a daily, moment by moment, decision.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We have the promise of the power of the Holy Spirit in us, but know that going against your flesh is painful and slow.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The world preaches the exact opposite – “you deserve to be treated a certain way”, “you deserve to be happy”, “you deserve this, that, the other”. \u00a0We keep our focus on self.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The cross is a beautiful representation of the joy set before us.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Immediate gratification v. the future joy that is coming. \u00a0Wait until you see what He has for you!<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
God is a rewarder. \u00a0Imagine 100 times more than your sacrifice.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Christ was motivated by the joy set before him.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Dead to self. \u00a0Alive in Christ.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
It is in view of God’s mercy that we offer up our lives.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
My interests do not direct my life any more. Jesus directs my life. \u00a0Surrender all worry, self righteousness, etc.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Ask God to change your desires. \u00a0You can’t do it on your own.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Pray over everything, the big and the small. \u00a0The enemy wants you not praying and asking God.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Stop speaking and believing lies. Recognize the lies.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Bumper sticker: “Don’t believe everything you think”. \u00a0Many times our thoughts are based on fear, pride, emotion. \u00a0 We need to fill our mind with truth, so we can recognize the lies.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
You can do anything Christ call you to.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Cultivate self control. \u00a0Exercise in self denial. \u00a0Set up training sessions for yourself to recognize when God sends His own training sessions.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Train yourself to be godly.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Without a goal, discipline is just self punishment. \u00a0We have to set our mind on the goal of reflecting God’s glory.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Don’t lose sight of it.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Train like an athlete.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Don’t dampen your light with stuff: possessions, credentials, etc.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
You can eat of the plate of lies and eventually become sick or you can drink from the living water , from the God who made you and loves you and want to give you life, true life.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Stop resisting the work God wants to do in your life.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
As we train ourselves in godliness, we will become more and more surrendered to God.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
We have to fight spiritual battles with spiritual weapons: God’s Word, prayer, self control are a few…<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
Be faithful in the little things. \u00a0Start by surrendering something.<\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
