My wonderful husband recently turned 50. \u00a0At first, we were planning on a big party to celebrate him, but as we were getting closer and I was trying to nail down specifics, he became increasingly uncomfortable. \u00a0He did not want a big party at all. \u00a0So, I started to think about how to celebrate him and make it really special for this milestone moment.<\/p>\n

Should we go on a family trip? Should we do a romantic weekend somewhere? A new guitar?<\/p>\n

Then I thought about all the time he has spent watching guitar instructional videos. \u00a0He has often mentioned one of the instructors as being “the best guitar instructor ever”, and then would mimic his accent, (he’s from England, but has been living in Nashville for many years).<\/p>\n

I decided to look this gentleman up to see if maybe we could go to Nashville and have David attend one of his workshops. \u00a0I sent an email to Robbie Calvo<\/a>\u00a0to see if this was a possibility. \u00a0He immediately responded that although he would have been happy to try to make something happen, the timing was wrong because he was thinking of moving to Hawaii. \u00a0Well, I promptly responded that we’d follow him to Hawaii! \u00a0He then suggested the possibility of him coming to our house and giving David a lesson, then from our place fly on to Hawaii. \u00a0Wow, really?! OK!<\/p>\n

I kept it a secret from David until the night before. \u00a0When I shared with him what was going to happen, he freaked out a little. \u00a0But, as it all sunk in, he became more and more excited.<\/p>\n

Robbie arrived early afternoon and worked with David for about five hours, then we all went out for dinner. \u00a0He is one of the most kind and humble musicians\/men we have ever met. \u00a0It was a blessing to be able to share a little bit of our lives with him and vice versa.<\/p>\n

As he leaves the rat race of Nashville and joins the lovely pace of the Hawaiian islands, we pray for him a wonderful community that surrounds him with love, joy, collaboration, inspiration, peace, vision, and friendship.<\/p>\n
