We drove to Sagle, Idaho (near Sandpoint) to visit Grandma Margaret and Grandpa Randy for a weekend.  It takes about six hours, and the boys were wonderful passengers.

We visited a place called ‘Wolf People’ in Cocolalla, Idaho.  They have a pack of wolves that stay in a compund near their store.  They bring a few at a time to the store so people can see the wolves up close.  Here is one of the adults and some of the cubs.

Here are the boy dipping their feet in Lake Cocolalla.  The boys preferred to call it ‘Lake Apple Juice’ because that’s what it looked like to them…

Back at Grandma and Grandpa’s house…
I asked ‘A’ to get his shoes.  He comes back after a few seconds and said he was afraid of a bug on the door and could I come and help him.  I went to the screen door, and saw this:
Just as I was about to tell ‘A’ not to be afraid, we hear a big buzzing sound by the window (very close to ‘A’).  ‘A’ lets out a huge scream and goes running back to the part of the house where DH and Grandma were.  I looked and saw THE BIGGEST DRAGONFLY EVER!!!

I managed to get ‘A’ back into the room and help me move the dragonfly outside.  We (the adults) tried not to laugh because ‘A’ was so traumatized, but it was pretty funny.  He is such a "city boy".

Shucking corn grom Grandpa’s garden…

A shot of their five acres…

The boys, with the produce they picked from the garden…(Did you know that cucumbers actually have little ‘spiny whiskers’ that you wipe off?)

A lovely salmon dinner on the deck…

Grandpa playing the white wolf!

One of the major highlights for the boys was getting to ride on Grandpa’s tractor!

‘A’ said:  "Look, mom, now I am a real tractor driver!"

Two week vacation

I decided to take a two week break from school.  We have enjoyed our break and really took advantage of what summer had to offer.

We had our friends ‘J’ and ‘A’ spend a morning with us.  These boys are so sweet!  They are in public school (on vacation, of course), but brought homeschool activities to share with my boys.  They could not wait to be their ‘teachers’!

Here they are, working on some worksheets they brought.

Back up

OK, I am back up!  It will be a while before I am caught up with everything, but just wanted to let you know that I am here.

Computer Woes

My computer crashed big time today.  Not sure when it will be back up.  Until then, I will have to limit my time online.  Take care and I hope I will be up sooner than later.

A few days ago, my friend Linda, and I met Kristy.  She used to live in Washington (now in Arizona), and is up here visiting family.

We met at a local McD’s for lunch, then took the kids to a park.

Here is Kristy and her son…

And a group shot.  The two colorful (check out their awesome hair) kids in the back are neighbor boys of mine who came along for the ride!

The kids had a great time playing together, and the moms enjoyed getting to know each other.  Kristy’s teen daughter is a doll and I wish she were closer so I could hit her up for babysitting!

OK, so it has its challenges, but for the most part, I love our life!  Not only do I get to enjoy my children everyday, but my husband as well!  DH works from home and takes breaks to play with the boys or have lunch with us.

Recently, we decided to go for a family walk.  We were able to go out midweek, midday, and enjoy an empty trail.  ‘R’ scoped out the blackberries right away.

"A’ being silly…

The boys…(fleece again…)

A huge ant hill…

Anyway, whenever I feel overhwhelmed and start looking at the "yard" on the other side of the fence, thinking of "greener" pastures, I remember that my pasture is just fine.  The flexibility and family time we have is worth so much!

Fun Filled Weekend!

Wow, where to begin?!

Friday evening, I attended a MOPS Steering Team retreat.

Saturday, DH and I took the boys to this new Starbucks on Snoqualmie Ridge and sat outside, enjoying our drinks and muffins.  We felt like we were on vacation!  I had a rehearsal for a skit I was going to be in on Sunday to promote MOPS.  After that, we went to an engagement party and enjoyed a fabulous outdoor picnic.

Sunday, DH lead worship at our church, and I performed in the skit.  We immediately went to a birthday party after church for a 4y.o. friend of ours.  Her family rented a huge, inflatable water slide and had a slip n slide and a small pool.  We also did water balloons.  There was a child size Jeep that ran on a battery.  ‘A’ and ‘R’ loved it and spent a good deal of time driving it around the neighborhood.
After the party, I went to a baby shower for a friend of mine who is pregnant with quadruplets.  She’s at 19 weeks and was just placed on home bed rest.

Whew!  I need a weekend to recoup from my weekend!
